Welcome to the RekinDil Privacy Policy (“Policy”). This Policy explains how we collect, use, store, protect, and share your information when you use our App and Sites.

INTRODUCTION

The RekinDil mobile application (the “App”), our websites (including rekindil.com, samalan.com and samalancorp.com), and related digital services (such as marketing campaigns, and surveys) are collectively referred to in this Policy as our “Sites.” The term “Services” means your use of the App and Sites, together with related features and services.

For the purposes of this Policy, “You” or “User” means any natural person who registers for or uses the App or Sites. The App and Sites are operated by Samalan Corporation (OPC) Private Limited (“Samalan Corporation”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”). We are the controller of personal data collected and processed through the App and Sites.

  1. YOUR ACCOUNT

    We collect personal data to operate the Services and provide a safe matching experience. The types of personal data we may collect when you register and use RekinDil include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Registration & Profile Information:name, date of birth, height, mobile number, email address, gender, marital status, number of children, photos, bio, interests, traits, languages, mother tongue, community/caste, profile pictures, religion, origin state, living city, living state, living country, attended colleges, education qualification, profession, salary, employer name, working role, working organization, lifestyle and opinions like drinking, smoking, workout, diet, pets, politics, and other profile fields you choose to provide.

    • Profile Verification Information: to reduce fake accounts and fraud, we may ask for identity verification (government ID scans and a short verification video). We do not display verification photos publicly; we retain them only as needed for verification and security purposes (see Data Retention section).

    • Geolocation Information: if you permit location access, we collect approximate longitude and latitude to provide location-based features and better match recommendations like "Near by Profiles".

    • Device & Usage Information: device identifiers, device model, operating system, app usage data, and diagnostics to help us operate and improve the Services.

    • Surveys, Feedback & Support: If you participate in optional surveys or contact our customer support team, we may retain the information you provide to improve our Services and resolve issues. We may also retain related communications (such as emails or in-app chats) in accordance with our standard retention policies and regulatory requirements.

    You can review and update most profile information in your Account settings. Some items (e.g., name, date of birth) may be restricted for account integrity reasons. We recommend you avoid posting highly sensitive personal information (such as full bank details or government identifiers) in public profile fields.

  2. USE OF YOUR INFORMATION

    We use your Registration and profile information for the following purposes:

    • to provide and maintain the Services;
    • to personalize matches and suggestions;
    • to improve and optimize the App and features;
    • to communicate updates, security notices, and service messages;
    • to perform research and analytics to improve recommendations;
    • to provide customer support and resolve disputes;
    • to prevent fraud, abuse, or illegal activity; and
    • to protect the safety of our users and third parties.
  3. OUR MATCHING ALGORITHM

    We use algorithmic matching to suggest profiles that may be compatible with you. The algorithm takes into account:

    • the profile information you provide (education, profession, interests, family preferences, height, age, religion, marital status etc.);
    • your preferences and filters (relationship goal, age range, location, community filters, etc.);
    • your activity and engagement within the app (likes, shortlists, messages, responses);
    • location information (if allowed) to improve proximity-based suggestions.

    The matching process uses weighted signals — soft compatibility signals for dating mode and stricter hard-filters for matrimony mode (e.g., education, community, profession) when applicable.

  4. DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES

    Most of our technical solutions are developed and maintained in-house. However, we may use trusted third-party service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, communication tools, payment processors) as part of delivering our Services. We may also disclose personal data to third parties when necessary to comply with legal obligations, for fraud prevention, or in connection with business transfers. We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

    We may share limited profile information with other Users as part of the Services (for example, your name, age, photos, and the profile fields you choose to make visible). This may also include information shown when you express interest, such as liking or starting a conversation with a match. We may also share aggregated or anonymized usage statistics for research, analytics, and business purposes.

  5. AGE

    RekinDil is intended for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to use RekinDil. If we discover an account belonging to someone under 18, we will take steps to remove it.

  6. INVITING FRIENDS

    If you invite friends to join RekinDil via email, SMS, or messaging, you confirm that your friend is willing to receive such an invitation. We do not permanently store your friend’s contact details, nor do we share them with third parties. To improve safety and prevent misuse, invitations may include your RekinDil ID or account handle so the recipient can identify who sent the invite. This also helps us trace and act on any reports of scams or unauthorized promotional messages

  7. USER RIGHTS

    • Right of Access — request a copy of your data;
    • Right of Rectification — correct inaccurate data;
    • Right to Erasure — request deletion where allowed by law;
    • Right to Restrict Processing — request limits on data handling;
    • Right to Data Portability — request a portable copy of your data.

  8. CONSENT AND CONTROL

    Explicit Consent

    By using RekinDil, you consent to our collection and processing of personal data as described in this Policy. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, but withdrawing may limit certain Services.

  9. COOKIE POLICY

    Our Sites use cookies and similar technologies to provide and improve the Services. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect functionality.

  10. SECURITY

    We employ reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, or unauthorized access. However, no system can be guaranteed to be fully secure; we will notify affected users and authorities of data breaches where required by law.

  11. STORAGE & TRANSFER

    We store and process personal data in India. Payment and payment-related data (when rolled out) will be processed and stored in India in compliance with applicable regulations.

    When you delete your account we retain some data for legitimate business, legal, and safety reasons as described in the Data Retention section below.

  12. DATA RETENTION & DELETION

    We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described and as required by law. For example, verification materials may be retained for up to 3 years for record keeping, and other account data may be retained for up to 6 years after account deletion to support fraud prevention and legal obligations.

    Pause: You can pause your account for up to 30 days. While paused your profile will not appear in recommendations. If you do not return within the reactivation window, your account may be deactivated and later deleted as described above.

    Deactivate: After deactivation you have a 30-day window to restore your account. After that window your account will be permanently deleted subject to the exceptions below (e.g. legal holds, fraud investigations).

    • We may retain certain data to comply with legal obligations;
    • We may keep limited records for fraud prevention and safety;
    • We may retain information needed to resolve disputes or enforce our Terms.

    Warning: Information you shared with other users may remain visible even after deletion if others saved, copied, or forwarded it.

  13. AMENDMENT

    We may update this Policy from time to time. We will publish the effective date at the end of this Policy and notify you of material changes where required.

EFFECTIVE DATE

This Policy is effective as of 22 September 2025.
